Petrol Grades for grey or red Holden motors

Post  EJ-PJ on Tue Aug 12, 2008 9:20 pm

My tank was almost empty when I filled her up tonight (the EH red 149 motor). I used BP 95 Petrol. I had the choice of Unleaded 91, 95 or 98. I chose the 95, and then drove about 20 klms. It seemed to go better than with the Unleaded 91 I usually use. Anyone have a similar experience lately?

Very peculiar

EJ-PJ, As strange as that may seem, although slightly off the subject, I've found that without using 'Flash Lube' ie forgetting to add the additive I think my FJ has performed better. Could this be a case of a fuel conspiracy, surley not. I for one totally trust anything that begins with OPEC.

Grey vs Red

Post  EJ-PJ on Fri Sep 12, 2008 9:10 pm

Dunc, I haven't noticed anything like that as you descibe as I "never" forget to squirt my additive into my tank before I fill 'er up. But I now am using 95 Octane juice in the grey and red motor vehicles and it seems that the red has appreciated the change the most. Perhaps the grey needs to be re-tuned while running on the 95.

The red has probably got a higher compression ratio therefore benifets more from the higher octane.
