Changing Differential ratio

Post  EJ-PJ on Mon Aug 11, 2008 9:54 pm

Has anyone changed their diff ratio lately? I wish to know the what would be the result if I changed my EJ diff from the standard 3.888:1 to perhaps an EH diff of 3.55 or 3.36:1. If any one has done this please let me know what happened with regard to acceleration, top speed and fuel consumption. The engine would remain a standard 138 cu.in.

the top speed should go up a bit , the RPM should drop but you will lose some torque ie:it may be a bit slower off the mark &it may slow down abit more on long steep hills. By dropping RPM it maysave petrol.

Leave it alone!

Thanks for that ... at this point in time it might be safer to leave it as the General designed it!
